The weather guessers in this area seem to be having a tough time. Most forecasts are iffy lately and predictions are more akin to winning a slot machine pull at a casino.
Rain has been in the forecast for a week now and the predictions have been from outright rain, which we need, to showers to possibly nothing at all. Though I shouldn't put my faith in my phone app, I still tend to check it before venturing out in the morning for my commute to work. The reason for that is to help me decide how to dress for the trip. Here in the PacNW, weather conditions change constantly and that requires local residents to carry a seabag full of clothing options where ever they go. We dress in layers, but what do we do with discarded layers or where do we get a new layer? It would be nice if clothing was instantly biodegradable, then I could cast it aside at will knowing it would decompose to the earth in a matter of minutes. It would be nice if clothing came in a spray can so I could apply a layer ad lib as the weather conditions change. Today is a day like that.
We are supposed to get rain or showers today. The timing of their arrival and exodus is questionable. It is warm enough now that I don't really want to don protective gear on the way out the door in case of rain because I will likely roast, or braise as the case may be, on the way into work because the rain never came. I could put a rain jacket and pants in my saddle bag into be ready, but by the time I pull over and make a roadside change, I will be drenched from the sudden onset of rain. Not a big deal if heading home, but I don't relish the thought of spending my day at work drying out because my clothes are soaked.
So here I sit, looking out the window as dawn breaks wondering what to do. More than likely I will dress according to the conditions I presume will be and hope for the best. Such is life for a bicycle commuter in the PacNW.
Keep on truckin'
